Assistant Lead Analyst - Business Intelligence (Data Analytics & AI)

Position Overview

The role is critical in supporting the project by: 

• understanding and gathering requirements from business users;
• clearly documenting them in comprehensive business requirement specs;
• collaborating closely with the technical team to ensure the delivered outcomes align with the defined requirements and project scope
• providing guidance and support to junior team members throughout the project lifecycle.

Role & Responsibilities

• Understand and translate user requirement analysis into extraction, transformation and loading rules for the development / implementation of new data mart application systems and for enhancements to existing systems relating to existing data warehouse
• Work with data engineers to develop new or enhance existing data models on the new data mart application systems based on user requirements
• Lead the identification and documentation of business attributes and metrics by analyzing existing data and report requirements
• Help in identification and perform technical data mapping potential sources of data for the data warehouse
• Oversee testing of data acquisition processes and their implementation into production
• Act as consultant in the review of extraction, loading and transformation (ETL) rules
• Evaluate potential solutions relating to business intelligence and data warehouse and make recommendations to resolve business problems
• Assist in establishing a set of consistent BI skills, standards, and best practice as well as the evaluation of BI and analytical software
• Involvement in the system integration testing phase prior to implementation
• Liaise closely with vendors and project team members in project implementation, application testing, supporting application patches and upgrades in accordance with project methodologies and policies
• Support the team in defining, tracking and documentation of the technical deliverables expected
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business units, data engineers, and project managers
• Support ongoing enhancements and troubleshooting of reports and dashboards
• Provide guidance and coaching to junior team members

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst working with data warehouses and BI tools
• A thorough understanding of data warehouse and data lakehouse principles and design guidelines is also expected with past implementation of a data warehouse and data lakehouse of data mart application
• Strong SQL skills, with experience using Databricks SQL.
• Proficient in Tableau, including data source preparation and schema design, data blending and joins, extract creation and data source optimization, building dashboards and visualizations.
• AWS Practitioner certified.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems with reports and ETL processes
• Experience in all phases of the BI project lifecycleStrong analytical skills and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for business users.
• Experience in healthcare industry is an added advantage
