Assistant Manager - Data engineering L2 support (Operations)

Position Overview

We are hiring a Data Engineer  to provide Ops and production support and enhancements for Data warehouse / Datamart projects and Health Analytics systems in GCC. 

Role & Responsibilities

• Manage and prioritise user queries and production issues for existing applications in Engineering and Operations, coordinating with team members to ensure timely resolution
• Track, analyse, and resolve production support incidents, identifying patterns and recommending improvements to prevent recurring issues
• Facilitate user meetings and stakeholder workgroups to document and analyse change request requirements, ensuring clarity and completeness of specifications
• Perform comprehensive data profiling and mapping to define data requirements for new projects or change requests, ensuring alignment with data quality standards
• Provide support for production reports, dashboards, and metadata, recommending enhancements to improve usability and business value
• Collaborate with vendors and developers to design, configure, and test enhancements per Synapxe project methodologies, ensuring quality and compliance with technical standards
• Translate user requirements into detailed analytics, reporting needs, and ETL rules for new data mart applications and enhancements, considering scalability and performance
• Identify and document business attributes and metrics by analysing existing data and reporting requirements, supporting data-driven decision-making
• Conduct technical data mapping for potential data warehouse sources, assessing integration requirements and complexity
• Execute and coordinate testing phases (system integration testing, user acceptance testing) before implementation, ensuring thorough validation and documentation
• Provide primary application maintenance support, including off-hour support as needed, and assist in troubleshooting complex technical issues
• Assist the Project Manager in assessing technical feasibility for cost evaluations, providing detailed analysis and recommendations
• Support knowledge sharing within the team by documenting solutions and contributing to technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications preferred
• At least 5-6 years of progressive experience in the IT industry, including:

1. 1. Proven experience in development, implementation, and maintenance of complex IT systems, with demonstrated expertise in Data Warehousing, ETL rules, data modelling, and BI applications
   2. Substantial operations support and business analysis experience, with ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
   3. Proficiency in MS-SQL and Oracle Database scripting, including performance optimisation and complex query development
   4. Strong experience in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and performing comprehensive root cause analysis for complex technical issues

• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex problems with BI reports and ETL processes, including performance tuning and data quality issues
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), Data Lake architectures, Databricks, and healthcare domain knowledge is highly desirable
• Proven ability to work independently on complex projects whilst effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality results
• Highly adaptable with exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and spoken), with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Proven stakeholder management skills with ability to build effective working relationships across different business units and technical teams
• Strong collaborative mindset with demonstrated ability to coordinate team efforts and support knowledge sharing initiatives
• Experience in mentoring junior team members or leading small project workstreams is advantageous
• Familiarity with project management methodologies and ability to contribute to project planning and estimation activities.
