Position Overview

The Business Analyst serves as the liaison between the business and IT in translating complex business needs into system/product data solutions. He/she oversees the evaluation of new or existing system requirements for optimal systems solution. He/She finds opportunities to transform the business processes for better efficiency and productivity through extensive research of the organisation's business processes, requirements, procedures or problems. He/she directs a group of business analysts to manage complex system requirements or multiple workstreams of systems enhancements. 

 

He/She is analytical and applies critical thinking toward examining systems and design requirements, arriving at sound decisions and solutions. He/She has excellent communications skill who is able to communicate his/her ideas persuasively and sustain positive relationships with team members and other stakeholders. He/She has excellent people management skills in guiding and developing teams to bring alignment on solutions.

Role & Responsibilities

Business Analysis Planning & Strategy

  • Lead the planning of business analysis approach by defining the methods, techniques and tools to be used for business analysis
  • Define goals, work timeline and expected deliverables for business analysis
  • Set up governance to track status, risks, changes and issues pertaining to day-to-day management of all functional areas of system/data product analysis
  • Plan stakeholder engagement including defining roles, decision making authority and level of influence
  • Define stakeholder communication plan
  • Define requirements & design acceptance and evaluation criteria
  • Formulate system scope and objectives

Requirements Analysis & Design

  • Liaise with senior stakeholders to understand business objectives and needs
  • Guide the collection of information about new or existing systems/data products for analysis
  • Develop roadmap by analysing current state and perform gap analysis to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Examine interactions between system elements, system performance and issues
  • Prepare business cases defining potential benefits, solutions to increase efficiencies of business processes and associated risks
  • Define opportunities and constraints of processes and systems/data products
  • Establish requirements for the implementation of changes in the business processes
  • Lead the design options conceptualisation and solution design identification
  • Guide the team to gather and document business requirements and design options
  • Oversee the translation of business requirements documentation into system requirement specifications

Requirements Lifecycle Management

  • Identify and document the relationships between requirements, design and solutions i.e. enforcing the use of Requirements Traceability Matrix ensuring backward and forward traceability of components
  • Balance competing priorities from key stakeholders to maximise the value delivered to the business
  • Prioritise requirements and seek approval from stakeholders on the priority
  • Obtain approvals of requirements and design from stakeholders
  • Evaluate changes to requirements and designs and articulate impact to scope, budget and timeline
  • Seek alignment with stakeholders on change requests
  • Monitor throughout the project lifecycle from initiation to final implementation that requirements are built in the IT solution as expected by collaborating with the development/testing teams
  • Oversee change management activities including developing training plans, training materials ensuring that adequate training is delivered so users understand the impact of the IT solution to their work and obtain buy-in for the new business workflows brought about by the new IT solution 
  • Oversee user training to facilitate adoption of new systems
  • Oversee overall project test planning and test execution ensuring alignment and validation of requirements against IT solution

Solution Evaluation

  • Oversee the assessment of feasibility of design options including solution limitations
  • Identify alternative solutions and assess feasibility
  • Drive efforts to increase viability of solutions
  • Recommend solution maximising business value for the future state
  • Obtain support on the recommended solution from stakeholders

Requirements

  • At least 4 - 5 years’ experience in developing, implementing and maintaining IT systems
  • Require basic knowledge on Health care setting
  • Willing to work night shift and/or weekend
  • Proactive, ability to analyze and articulate issues
