Position Overview
The Data Centre Operator provides data centre systems maintenance and monitoring service and basic support in data centre equipment installation. He/She monitors data volume, maintains internal documentation, and performs independent troubleshooting of recurring issues whenever required.
Role & Responsibilities
Support data centre operations
- Assist in He/she is inquisitive and displays a positive attitude when facing obstacles. He/she follows a logical process when making decisions. He/she is also able to communicate effectively and works well in a team.
- He/she displays willingness to learn and is committed to provide service level excellence in everything that he/she does. handling all day-to-day operational data centre monitoring activities
- Assist with management and tracking of assets and the generation of reports
- Support planned maintenance events, system backup processes and disaster recovery drills
- Perform physical visitor access request into data center.
- Perform physical equipment movement request in or out of data center. Manage inventory movements with all necessary approvals and checking that it matches with request.
- Health monitoring of systems via NOC dashboards using monitoring tools.
- Escalate issue to relevant parties based on SOP and escalation matrix.
- Reports generation (daily/weekly/monthly).
- Monitor patching notification email that is send out to the system custodian.
- Daily checking of logs to prepare for audit: visitor log, keypress log, staging, storage, DC item log and inventory movements.
- Weekly checking of logs to prepare for audit: CCTV and degauss logs.
- Perform any other task assigned that is related to job requirements
Support incident resolution
- React to alerts/alarms
- Support problem/issue identification and resolution
- Escalate problems/issues
- Diagnose problem source through discussions with users
- Support implementation of preventive solutions
- Guide staff to resolve basic and routine problems
- Develop supporting documentation of all activities to ensure accurate and sufficient information for maintenance and troubleshooting
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in any related course
- At least 1-2 years of related experience
- Able to work in 24 x 7 data center on varied 12 hours shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Inquisitive and displays a positive attitude when facing obstacles. He/she follows a logical process when making decisions. He/she is also able to communicate effectively and works well in a team.
- Willingness to learn and is committed to provide service level excellence in everything that he/she does.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office
