Position Overview
The Business Analyst develops and designs system/data product solutions with the purpose of improving business efficiency and productivity. The role initiates the study and research of client business processes and requirements, information technology requirements, procedures, or problems according to business needs. The feasibility of new systems and/or enhancements to existing systems is analyzed.
Possessing an analytical mind, the Business Analyst is able to see interconnections with system solutions and usability. A systematic approach is adopted in handling ambiguous or complex issues, and perspectives are actively discussed to arrive at effective solutions.
Role & Responsibilities
Business Analysis Planning & Strategy
- Plan the business analysis approach by selecting methods, techniques, and tools
- Collaborate with the PM and BA Lead to set goals, timelines, and deliverables
- Support governance for tracking status, risks, changes, and issues. Assist in stakeholder engagement planning, including roles and decision-making authority
- Define communication plans, requirements acceptance, evaluation criteria, and system scope and objectives.
Requirements Analysis & Design
- Engage with senior stakeholders to understand business needs
- Lead information gathering on systems/data products
- Analyze current state and gaps to identify improvements
- Examine system interactions and performance
- Conduct detailed analysis of requirements and feasibility
- Support business case development highlighting benefits, solutions, and risks
- Define process and system opportunities and constraints
- Establish requirements for process changes
- Identify enhancement opportunities and assist in solution proposals
- Document business requirements and translate them into system specifications
Requirements Lifecycle Management
- Document relationships between requirements, design, and solutions using a Requirements Traceability Matrix
- Balance stakeholder priorities to maximize business value
- Prioritize and obtain approval for requirements and designs
- Evaluate changes and communicate impacts on scope, budget, and timeline Align with stakeholders on change requests
- Monitor requirements implementation throughout the project lifecycle with development and testing teams
- Validate solution alignment with business needs and anticipate integration risks
- Support change management by developing training plans and materials, conducting user training, and ensuring adoption
- Prepare and coordinate test plans to ensure requirements are fully tested and meet desired outcomes
Solution Evaluation
- Support the feasibility study of design options including solution limitations
- Identify alternative solutions and assess feasibility
- Conduct analysis on the risk vs. benefits for the proposed solutions
- Contribute to the efforts to increase viability of solutions
- Recommend solution maximising business value for the future state
- Obtain support on the recommended solution from stakeholders
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in developing, implementing and maintaining IT systems
- Successful track record in handling multiple projects with good knowledge of requirements gathering and documentation techniques
- Experience in MS Windows environment & application support
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Stakeholder management and facilitation experience
- Process mapping and improvement expertise
- Risk assessment and mitigation skills is an added advantage
- Experience in healthcare industry is an added advantage
- Agile or Scrum certifications
