Position Overview
The Lead Engineer manages the systems administration function. He/She focuses on setting goals and priorities and on mentoring and coordination. He/She plans and execute virtualization IT system infrastructure setup and workloads migrations project. He/She directs the development and maintenance of technical documentation.
He/She is able to address multi-faceted issues effectively and in a collaborative manner across departments.
Role & Responsibilities
• Establish goals and priorities, design, planning, day-to-day operation, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of highly mission-critical systems
• Align system administration with overall strategic IT service direction and business needs
• Assist with the development of business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for spending and initiatives
• Anticipate and develop solutions in response to internal and/or external business and compliance challenges.
• Be the SME for virtualization platform operation.
• Develop effective policies, procedures, and controls to ensure system security
• Partner with stakeholders to recommend and implement innovative and automated approaches for system administration
• Define systems requirements for new technology implementations and its seamless migration
• Prepare for system expansion by studying plans and requirements
• Oversee the design, maintenance and implementation of the systems
• Drive effective performance management practices within department in accordance with company policies and procedures
Requirements
• Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
• At least 5 – 6 years’ experience in Enterprise administration
• Strong Experience with Virtualization products administrator: VMware and Nutanix virtualization platforms design, administration and implementation best practices
• Strong understanding of virtual environments with respect to proactive performance analysis and identification of potential bottlenecks
• Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
• Software-defined networking experience will be preferred
• Detailed understanding of IT Infrastructure project management principles and techniques
• Individual has detailed knowledge of initiating, planning and executing on setting up infrastructure projects including design, build and migrate activities within the project
• Ability to identify, develop and quantify any required corrective action plans
• Systematic in approach and familiar with enterprise level trouble shooting.
• Strong communications skills with stakeholders
