The Centre of Programme Management – MOH Programmes (COPM-MOH) oversees the funding and delivery of national tech enablement programmes (e.g., Age Well SG and Healthier SG). Since 2024, the number of programmes managed has significantly increased, compounding the team’s operational load. This project aims to automate our finance operations (FinOps), which involves monitoring and analyzing $97M in funds to date. Monthly FinOps currently have a lengthy cycle time of 15.5 man-hours. The existing process involves manual data processing by two finance business partners (BPs) across ten data sources. Hand-offs across approximately 40 tabs also introduce potential errors. We aim to automate this process to achieve a cycle time of 0.5 man-hours or less (a reduction of 97%). The future state process will utilize a Python and Tableau data pipeline. As of June 2025, we have reached a cycle time of 0.5 man-hours with a 13% error rate (100% of which is attributed to our oldest programme). This project will primarily focus on fine-tuning our extract, transform, load (ETL) script and performing data validations to achieve a 0% error rate, enabling the future state process to go live. It will also include Tableau development to operationalize management reporting.

The selected intern will participate in the following but not limited to:

  • Develop the existing ETL script in Python, perform weekly validations to identify areas for improvement, ideally achieve a < 1% error rate with the ETL script
  • Set up a data model from ETL script output, build level of detail (LOD) calculations, conduct statistical analyses, create user views, and manage access controls on Tableau Server
  • Manage project timelines, ensure documentation is current, and provide weekly updates to the team
  • Script new modules to aggregate and cleanse multiple funding source items, perform validations of interim dataframes within the pipeline (e.g., check for duplicate entries)
  • Complete project documentation on data assets, ETL script, and weekly data validation (templates provided)
  • Create a Tableau dashboard for management reporting

About you:

  • Be pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Information Systems or related field
  • Graduating in May/Dec 2026 or May 2027
  • Able to work independently under timelines
  • Hands-on experience with data manipulation and data validation (strong skills using the pandas library is a must)
  • Experience with Tableau Desktop or Tableau Server is a plus
  • Good team player with strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Passionate and keen to make a difference to re-imagine the future of HealthTech
