The objective of this project is to develop and evaluate models for the detection and classification of sleep disorders using physiological data collected by specialized instrumentation at hospitals and wearable devices at patients' homes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Exploration of Signal Data: Understand the different channels of signal data collected by the instruments used in sleep studies.
• Clinical Practices Understanding: Familiarize with clinical practices for scoring physiological data related to sleep disorders.
• Data Preparation: Perform data cleaning and preprocessing to format the data suitably for model training.
• Feature Engineering: Engineer time-domain and frequency-domain features from the physiological data to enhance model performance.
• Model Training and Optimization: Train and optimize machine learning and deep learning models for accurate detection and classification of sleep disorders.
• Post-Processing: Conduct post-processing of model outputs to ensure clarity and usability of results.
• Model Evaluation: Understand machine learning and clinical metrics for evaluating model performance.

The selected intern will participate but not limited to the following:

• Validate the models with prospective data at the hospital to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Scale and integrate the models into other clusters for broader application.
• Contribute to the writing of a potential publication for a conference or journal, sharing findings and methodologies.
• Develop and/or test models using data collected from wearable devices to enhance the understanding of sleep disorders in real-world settings.

Note: The scope of the project may change depending on company priorities. Additionally, the intern may be asked to contribute to and support other ongoing projects and duties on an as-needed basis.

About you:

• Be pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
• Graduating in May/Dec 2026 or May 2027
• Proficiency in python programming language for data processing and model development is required.
• Familiarity with git and github repositories is desirable
• Experience with MLops is a plus
• Experience with ML engineering and AI deployment is a plus
• Experience with AWS cloud stack is a plus
• Familiarity with object oriented programming is desirable
• Previous experience with 1D signal data (time series, audio, etc.) is preferrable
• Knowledge and prior experience with deep learning algorithms is a plus
• Ability to communicate effectively and present results and findings
• Adaptability to work on a constantly evolving environment
• Ability to document comprehensively and rigorously internship project materials, including literature articles, code, results, findings, and slides, for a proper handover to supervisor and teammates
• Good team player with strong analytical and communication skills
• Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Passionate and keen to make a difference to re-imagine the future of HealthTech
