Project: Building Multi-Agent Orchestration Workflows for Healthcare Applications
Agentic AI is transforming how healthcare applications are built, enabling autonomous systems that can reason, plan, and execute complex multi-step workflows. This internship focuses on building production-grade multi-agent systems using modern orchestration frameworks and enterprise deployment platforms.
The selected intern will participate in, but is not limited to, the following:
Phase 1: Agent Orchestration Foundations
The intern will implement two core orchestration paradigms in modern agentic AI. For agent orchestration (LLM-driven), they will build agents that use large language models for dynamic decision-making, including planning modules, memory management, and tool utilisation. For workflow orchestration (deterministic), they will create structured processes with conditional logic, error handling, and state management. The intern will work with Microsoft Agent Framework, which unifies these approaches through composable agent patterns, the ChatAgent abstraction for multi-turn interactions, and the Workflow abstraction for orchestrating complex processes.
Phase 2: Enterprise Deployment Platforms
The intern will deploy agents to production using AWS Bedrock AgentCore. They will transform APIs and Lambda functions into agent-compatible tools, implement secure agent deployment with session isolation and dynamic scaling, establish persistent context and memory for personalised interactions, configure guardrails and compliance controls, and set up observability for monitoring performance, quality, cost, and safety in production.
Phase 3: Healthcare Workflow Development
The intern will design and build a multi-agent workflow for healthcare applications. They will analyse a healthcare process suitable for agent automation (such as health plan generation or information retrieval), decompose it into specialised agent roles (Query Understanding, Data Retrieval, Reasoning, Response Generation), implement coordination patterns for agent collaboration and error handling, deploy the workflow to AWS Bedrock with appropriate security controls and guardrails, and develop evaluation frameworks to measure accuracy, safety, and reliability.
