Position Overview

The Team Lead, Mobile Threat Defense (MTD), is responsible for leading the implementation, operation, and continuous enhancement of enterprise mobile security capabilities across all PHI mobile devices. This role will lead a team of mobile security engineers responsible for protecting mobile endpoints against modern cyber threats, establishing secure mobility procedures, integrating mobile threat defense platforms with enterprise security ecosystems, and ensuring compliance with organizational security standards.

The successful candidate will drive the organization's mobile security strategy while balancing security, usability, operational efficiency, and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong technical leadership, engineering expertise, and the ability to collaborate across infrastructure, cloud, endpoint, identity, application, and operations teams. The successful candidate will also be required to work with management stakeholders to manage policies and standards related to mobile device defense.

This is a 2 year direct contract role.

Role & Responsibilities

Mobile Security Strategy & Governance

  • Define and maintain the enterprise Mobile Threat Defense roadmap.
  • Develop mobile security standard operating procedures, baselines, and technical controls.
  • Establish mobility security governance frameworks aligned with organizational risk appetite and policies.
  • Drive adoption of security-by-design principles for mobility services.
  • Evaluate emerging mobile threats, technologies, and security solutions.

 Mobile Threat Defense Engineering

  • Lead deployment, configuration, and optimization of Mobile Threat Defense platforms.
  • Design and maintain integrations between:
    • MTD
    • MDM/UEM platforms
    • Identity Providers
    • SIEM/SOAR platforms
    • Security Operations tooling
  • Define threat detection use cases and mobile security monitoring requirements with the organization’s threat detection team.
  • Develop automated response and remediation workflows.
  • Ensure effective mobile security telemetry collection and visibility.

 Mobile Endpoint Protection

Lead enterprise capabilities covering:

  • Mobile malware protection
  • Mobile application reputation analysis
  • Root detection and jailbreak detection
  • Network threat detection
  • Unsafe Wi-Fi detection
  • Malicious application detection
  • Mobile vulnerability management
  • Mobile compliance enforcement

Mobile Application Security

  • Establish mobile app vetting processes.
  • Assess mobile applications for security vulnerabilities and threats before deployment.
  • Collaborate with AppSec and App teams on app vulnerabilities and threat management.
  • Support mobile application threat modelling and security reviews.

 Security Operations & Incident Response

  • Assist with investigations involving mobile-related security incidents.
  • Assist with playbooks for mobile threat detection and response.
  • Partner with SOC and Incident Response teams to operationalize mobile threat intelligence.
  • Support forensic investigations involving mobile platforms.

 Architecture & Integration

  • Integrate MTD solutions with:
    • Microsoft Intune
    • Entra ID
    • Microsoft Defender
    • SIEM platforms
    • NAC solutions
    • Zero Trust initiatives

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mobile security engineers.
  • Conduct technical coaching and skills development.
  • Establish engineering standards and operational procedures.
  • Manage project delivery and service performance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

 Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with MTD vendors and implementation partners.
  • Evaluate new technologies and product enhancements.
  • Engage infrastructure, endpoint, cloud, application, and healthcare technology teams.
  • Present security risks and recommendations to technical and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Cybersecurity/Computer Science/Information Technology/Engineering
  • 5+ years of cybersecurity experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in endpoint or mobile security engineering.
  • 1+ years leading technical cybersecurity teams.
  • Experience implementing enterprise mobile security solutions.
  • Experience supporting medium/large-scale iOS and Android deployments

Technical Skills:

  • Mobile Threat Defense (one or more): Zimperium, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Mobile, CrowdStrike Falcon for Mobile, Lookout, Jamf Security, Ivanti Mobile Threat Defense
  • Mobile Device Management / UEM: Microsoft Intune, Workspace ONE, MobileIron / Ivanti, Jamf Pro, VMware UEM
  • Identity & Access Management: Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA solutions, Zero Trust architecture
  • Endpoint & Security Operations: SIEM platforms, SOAR platforms, Threat intelligence platforms, Security monitoring and alerting
  • Mobile Platforms (Deep Knowledge):
    • iOS: iOS security architecture, Device attestation, Secure Enclave, App sandboxing, Managed App Framework
    • Android: Android Enterprise, Android Security Model, Android MTD capabilities, Mobile security hardening, Device attestation
