Position Overview

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and management capability, with the ability to set direction, influence stakeholders, and lead teams, while still retaining hands‑on technical credibility. This role is responsible for guiding and mentoring team members, coordinating cross‑functional efforts, overseeing delivery commitments, and providing authoritative technical direction to ensure consistent, high‑quality outcomes across the organisation.

The role provides ownership and leadership over the vulnerability management function, leading vulnerability assessments, reviewing and validating scan results, and driving remediation priorities across Synapxe’s IT environment. The position plays a critical role in shaping and strengthening the organisation’s security posture by ensuring vulnerabilities are accurately identified, risk‑assessed, prioritised, and addressed in line with governance and SLA expectations.

The engineer will act as a technical authority and point of escalation, leading the resolution of complex security issues across diverse systems and networks, ensuring the integrity of the IT asset inventory, and aligning remediation strategies with operational realities and business needs. Success in this role requires strong technical depth, sound judgement, data‑driven decision‑making, and the ability to communicate confidently with senior stakeholders, translating technical risk into clear, actionable insights for both engineering teams and management.

This is a 2 year direct contract role.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Ensuring projects and BAU activities meet timelines, scope, and quality expectations.
  • Managing expectations across technical teams, vendors, and business owners
  • Driving improvements, managing resistance, and leading teams through change
  • Taking responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks
  • Experience establishing, enforcing, and continuously improving processes, SOPs, and governance frameworks.
  • Good knowledge in Infrastructure system (Hypervisor, Servers, Firewall, Network, etc.) and Operating System (WINDOWS, UNIX, IOS, etc.).
  • Good technical knowledge is Cloud and AI.
  • Strong technical skill in troubleshooting when Infrastructure system unable to establish a handshake with vulnerability tool.
  • Perform technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis on IT systems and network components to support vulnerability remediation and operational stability.
  • Process, analyze, and manipulate large volumes of vulnerability and asset data to support effective decision-making.
  • Generate and present comprehensive vulnerability status reports with insightful analytics, incorporating asset health and network status indicators.
  • Manage timely resolution for vulnerability-related inquiries from stakeholders, including issues related to system configurations, network connectivity, and hardware/software assets.
  • Support the full vulnerability tool lifecycle—from procurement to disposal—in accordance with company policies and regulations, ensuring proper asset tracking and configuration management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage vulnerability reporting, tracking, remediation efforts, and IT asset lifecycle management.
  • Conduct regular assessments to ensure operations align with organizational policies, ITIL framework, and industry standards for asset management and network security.
  • Create, maintain, and update vulnerability management and IT asset management SOP documentation.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging threats, and best practices to continuously enhance the vulnerability management program and IT infrastructure resilience.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in information technology, cybersecurity, computer science, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in managing a team of minimum 4 people.
  • At least four years of vulnerability management experience
  • IT infrastructure support, systems administration, or a related technical role is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot complex IT systems and network issues.
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience in performing data processing, analysis, transformation of large datasets, and automation of IT operational tasks.
  • Strong capability in Python scripting to automate tasks, manage system configurations, and design efficient process workflows related to asset inventory and vulnerability management.
  • Proficiency in vulnerability management tools and platforms, database management and querying, Power BI, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word).
  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure components, including operating systems, network protocols, hardware assets, and endpoint management.
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework, asset management best practices, and network troubleshooting methodologies is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
