Senior Solutions Architect - Applications (CAO)

Position Overview

The Senior Solutions Architect designs and develops integrated information technology architecture solutions for internal and/or external clients. Identifies current architecture problems, future technological goals and provides expert advice on solutions. Serves as a technical expert on solutions design, development and implementation requirements to address business needs. The candidate is recognised as among the most experienced and knowledgeable resources within the field in the organisation. Collaborates with delivery and operations on architecture solutions design. Integrates diverse needs and perspectives from internal and external clients and possesses a creative mind to develop new and fresh ideas and solutions.

Possesses strong leadership and communication abilities and is able to influence key stakeholders and his clients.

Role & Responsibilities

Critical Work Functions and Key Tasks

Understand business requirements

• Liaise with senior stakeholders to determine requirements and define the scope of the solution 
• Evaluate client's system specifications, work practices and the nature of business
• Apply the state of enterprise architecture for the organisation to the solution architecture

Design the solution architecture

• Develop and optimise a solution design that fulfils the business requirements and aligns with the enterprise architecture
• Ensure the technical soundness and integrity of the solution.
• Analyse impact of a solution on client’s overall business processes and systems to mitigate business risks
• Recommend  adoption of new technologies and applications to improve the solution design
• Foster continuous improvements in design processes, models and approaches

Implement Solution

• Supervise the solution implementation to ensure fidelity to scope and design. 
• Create Proof of Concept  and/or prototypes to verify if customer requirements can be fulfilled
• Evaluate different tools and techniques for the solution  
• Provide guidance on technical standards, guidelines and best practices aligned to the overall enterprise architecture
• Drive compatibility, interoperability, stability and usability of recommended solution architecture

Stakeholder Management

• Garner buy-in and support for the overall solution architecture design 
• Build strong partnership with business and IT  stakeholders to create ownership to achieve solution architecture objectives

Manage Department

• Develop staff through ongoing coaching, mentoring and career discussions 
• Define common goals, direction and accountability among staff

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years as an architect, and at least 15 years of experience in implementing IT systems. 
• Demonstrable knowledge of web-based architectures, integration methods and strategies to support non-functional requirements such as resilience and performance.   Skills and experience in health IT systems, HL7 and FHIR would be valuable, but not a must. 
• For Digital Services architect, you will be building close relationships and providing technical leadership on the commercial clouds such as AWS to the project teams including architects and engineers from in-house engineering teams.
• Communicate cloud platform products and services effectively to stakeholders and other architects to ensure a secure and scalable approach is realised. Experience in micro-services, DevOps tools and methodologies, containers technology such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, server-less architecture, and implementation in commercial cloud is highly preferred.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics.
