Uni Internship Jan to July 2027 - Cybersecurity Operations, Analysis & Response

We are looking for intern(s) to join our Cyber Security Office team for an immersive internship that combines foundational cybersecurity knowledge with hands-on experience in security operations. You'll work alongside cybersecurity professionals to monitor, analyze, and respond to security threats while gaining exposure to industry-leading security tools and processes.

The selected intern(s) will assist in following:

1. Foundational Knowledge of Cybersecurity Principles

• Key concepts on CIA Triad (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability)
• Introduction of Cybersecurity Frameworks such as ATT&CK MITRE, NIST 2.0

2. Hands-on in Security Operations Center Processes

• Introduction on various security tools such as Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and Network Detection and Response (NDR).
• Introduction on different types of log sources, security events and alerts.
• Introduction to SOC operation which is running 24/7 with continuous monitoring of security events and alerts using various security tools.
• To perform initial triage of security alerts to determine if the activity is malicious threat, false positive, authorized event followed by severity.
• To escalate critical cases to cybersecurity incident response team and to provide support where needed.
• To maintain details records of all activities, including investigations performed, findings and remediation steps taken.
• To handle case management, generating tickets and reports when required, and tracking open tickets until closure.

3. Enhance Analytical and Critical Thinking Skills

• To be involved in SOC continuous improvement process such as alerts fine tuning, alert escalation process and etc.
• To support and assist in detection development from different exercises such as Red teaming, Purple teaming and etc.
• To develop/strengthen playbook and process for case handling by the SOC team.
• To assist in identifying opportunities for tuning to improve detection accuracy and reduce false positives.
   

4. Cultivate Collaboration and Communication Skills

• To prepare scheduled and ad-hoc reports for various stakeholders and audiences e.g. generate statistics to support for presentation on cybersecurity monitoring value to GCISO/CISO(s).
• To support and assist in quality assurance on cases handle and closure by different shift team (SOC analysts) e.g. review cases and gathering feedbacks from different teams.
• To support and assist in cybersecurity exercises such as cyber range, table top and etc.
• To be involve in cross-functional collaboration with other non-cybersecurity related teams such as network team, system team or application team to enhance the current processes.

Other areas of work scope

• Support in tracking request for information(RFI) items for compliance/audit requirement from Synapxe.
• To assist in proof of concept/value POC/POV projects (if any) such as researching/testing on POC/POV and provide the analysis.
• To assist in SOC documentation as and when required.
• Writing minutes of meeting (MoM) as and when required.

About You:

• Undergraduate currently in Year 2 or Year 3, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related discipline
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity and risk management concepts
• Familiarity with cybersecurity monitoring tools (e.g. SIEM, EDR, EPP, NDR) is preferred
• Exposure to security testing or red teaming tools (e.g. Burp Suite, Kali Linux) is an advantage
• Independent, fast-learner, and self-driven 
• Good team player with strong analytical and communication skills 
• Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team 
• Passionate and keen to make a difference to re-imagine the future of HealthTech
