Uni Internship Jan to July 2027 - Scaling Generative AI for Public Healthcare

As an intern you will join the Data Science & AI team to advance Generative AI adoption across Singapore’s public healthcare sector through Tandem, Synapxe’s enterprise GenAI platform. Working closely with healthcare institutions, interns will contribute to the enhancement of AI-powered applications such as chatbots, productivity tools, agent platforms, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions that support healthcare professionals in their daily work. This internship offers the opportunity to explore emerging AI technologies, enhance existing applications, and develop new use cases that improve healthcare operations, productivity, and user experience.

The selected intern(s) will assist in following:

• Explore and implement advanced AI concepts such as agentic AI, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and -query decomposition to enhance model performance
• Work with Large Language Models (LLMs) and frameworks (e.g. Azure AI SDK, Strands, LangChain, LangGraph) to build intelligent, context-aware applications
• Develop and test AI-powered solutions for real-world healthcare use cases, focusing on improving accuracy, scalability, and user experience
• Collaborate with senior specialists to fine-tune applications, optimise workflows, and integrate AI capabilities into enterprise systems
• Gain hands-on experience in Python programming, API integration, and cloud-based AI deployment
• Experiment with evaluation tools and frameworks (e.g. Ragas, DeepEval) to assess LLM responses and mitigate issues such as hallucinations and retrieval quality limitations

About You:

• Undergraduate currently in Year 2 or Year 3, pursuing a degree in Business Analytics, Business Artificial Intelligence Systems, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline
• Strong proficiency in Python programming, with solid coding fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with NLP or deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Strong interest in Generative AI, with experience using proprietary LLMs (e.g. GPT, Anthropic, Gemini) and/or open-source models (e.g. Llama)
• Hands-on software development experience, demonstrated through past (Gen)AI projects
• Familiarity with development tools (e.g. VS Code, Jupyter Notebook, Git)
• Basic understanding of GenAI concepts, including prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and agentic systems
• Familiarity with frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph is preferred
• Experience in building applications (e.g. Flask or similar frameworks) is a plus
• Independent, fast-learner, and self-driven 
• Good team player with strong analytical and communication skills
• Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Passionate and keen to make a difference to re-imagine the future of HealthTech
