The aim of the project is to explore and retrain deep learning and cutting-edge technology in NLP related algorithms, such as word embedding, search retrieval, BERT models, and large language models (LLMs) for retrieval augmented generation, information detection and topic modelling in healthcare related texts.

Unstructured information represents the vast majority of data available, and natural language processing becomes an important field in data science, to automatically handle text and derive meaning from human languages.

The selected intern(s) will:

• Learn and explore NLP processing, analysis, model retaining and/or other aspects of algorithm development, such as Named Entity Recognition (NER), relation extraction, topic extraction etc. The model developed would potentially be integrated to an AI application used by stakeholders.
• Learn to work with stakeholders to translate business problems into data science projects and develop strategies. Strategies involves identifying, acquiring and using appropriate data sets to develop practical solutions and support decision making.

About you:

• Be pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or related discipline
• Graduating in Dec 2025 or May/Dec 2026
• Strong coding skills in Python programming language.
• Proficient in Git for code management and collaboration
• A keen interest in Gen AI and their applications in healthcare
• Understanding in concepts related to embedding and deep learning models
• Experience in integrating LLMs to python projects through school/personal projects and/or other internships
• Knowledge in API integration, FastAPI, Spring Boot, Java or TypeScript is preferred
• Ability to work independently and adapt to a constantly evolving environment.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Passionate and keen to make a difference to re-imagine the future of HealthTech
